Sarah Djarnie Brown is the owner and designer behind Shop Volta. Her theory is that there is beauty in all things that we create from conception to the actual product.

She originally began her business (Guerrilla Soul) in 2004, designing and selling her handmade clutches, handbags and jewelry accessories. In 2012 she went on a hiatus to spend more time with her husband Frederick and their two sons Landon and Serge.

In 2018 while visiting family in Ghana, Sarah became inspired by local artisans, dressmakers and women-owned boutiques that specialized in handmade and high end pieces. When she returned home Volta was born.

The name Volta is named after Lake Volta in Ghana and the logo is an Adinkra Symbol called Owia A Repue, also known as the Rising Sun symbolizing progress, renewal, development, warmth, vitality, and energy.
